On June 8, 2012, students of Teacher Jessica Marine at St Francis de Sales school in West Philadelphia presented scenes from the plays they’ve been creating in their yearlong playwriting workshops led by Philadelphia Young Playwrights Teaching Artist James Stover. The plays were intercut with performances from student musicians involved with Tune Up Philly and made for a memorable festival of music and theatre. Watch this short montage to get a small taste of the mini-festival they presented to their peers! While in 5th grade at William Penn Charter School, Noah Hollin wrote “A Bully Problem” to examine various issues around bullying in schools and homes. Years later, Noah revisits his old classroom to talk about his play and bullying in an interview with then-teacher Ruth Aichenbaum.
