![]() —>The 2013 Young Voices High School Monologue Festival will take place on April 2nd – 6th. Showcasing monologues written by sixteen student writers from thirteen various high schools throughout the city, the festival will highlight an array of perspectives through performance. The students involved, all having thought up, written, and revised their monologues, have enjoyed the process of working to bring their pieces to life. Here is what a few of them had to say about their experience: ![]() This past Saturday we held a Saturday Morning Reading Series at the Philadelphia Art Alliance. Kaza the Alien Spy by Zöe Levy-Dyer of Cedarbrook Middle School, and The Outsider by Brionna Mitchell of Overbrook Education Center were both directed by David Ingram and performed by undergraduate actors from the Temple University Department of Theater. The event was hosted by Kevin Robinson (Board Host), Jaya Montague (Youth Council Host), and Caitlin Cieri (Alumni Host). We would like to thank all of those who came out and contributed to the success of the event. We look forward to seeing you all at the next one! Check out photos below! On July 19, the student participants of our summer playwriting retreat(entitled Re-Vision) shared their explorations of time travel and history with a captivated audience at First Baptist Church. The work they produced during the two-week retreat has laid the groundwork for a collaborative piece to be performed at the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts in the spring of 2013. See this video and discover what our students have come up with! |
